Problems addressed
Lack of systems-level focus. No agreed indicators or measurement frameworks for sustainable development (SD). Philosophical and moral/ethical issues associated with SD.

Solutions provided
Ecological economics. Construction and use of indicators of SD. All my work is done within a Strong Sustainability systems framework. It is the whole system that is my focus, not its parts, no matter how large they appear.

Biography
Born in the UK and living in NZ for the last 45 years. A chemical engineer whose main focus in recent years has been sustainable development. Author of a book on Energy and the Ecological Economics of Sustainability and papers on systems, sustainability and the ethical requirements of stakeholder involvement.
